Changing the Filters on Your Certified Toyota

It doesn’t matter if your certified Toyota is new or pre-owned; sooner or later you are going to have to change the filters. Changing them out really isn’t all that complicated, however. Just follow the tips we’re sharing below and you’ll see just how easy it can be. Not only that, you’ll save yourself a bit of cash by doing it yourself.
Your air filter is probably the easiest filter to change. The air filter does exactly what it sounds like–it filters the air that is sucked through your engine. For the engine to work efficiently, it needs the right amount of air, and it needs to be clean, which is where the filter comes in. Finding the air filter should be easy–it’s usually easily accessible right under the hood. Just prop the hood and let the engine cool for a few minutes and you can get to work. It’s usually as simple as removing a cover, pulling off the old filter and popping a new one on. Screw the lid back down, and you’re ready to drive your pre-owned certified Toyota all over Missouri.
Another filter you can change on your certified Toyota is the oil filter. It’s a little more complicated than the air filter, but it’s still an easy task. Your owner’s manual will show you exactly where the filter is located on your vehicle. When you find it, carefully wipe off the cap. It holds oil, so it will be pretty grimy. Open it up and remove the filter.
The filter will be draining oil, so be sure to have a container ready to hold the leakage. Take the new filter and wipe a small bit of oil on the rubber gasket on top of it. This will help seal the filter when it is in use. Replace it the same way you took it out, but do not overtighten it. You don’t want to warp the seals! Wipe everything down, shut the hood, start you car and check for leaks. If you’ve installed it correctly, there will be no leaking and you’ll be ready for the road.
If you have any concerns about changing your own filters, don’t worry. The information for your specific certified Toyota is in your owner’s manual. If it’s still confusing, we can help you out.
