Toyota Dealer Tips: Roadside Stretching
Thursday, August 20, 2009 6:07
Take it from your Toyota dealer—nothing is worse than realizing halfway through a road trip that you are sore, your legs are cramping, and your arms are tired. You may just be driving across St Louis from St Peters to Kirkwood, or you could be taking a long road trip through Missouri. No matter where you go, taking the time for some stretches along the way will make you feel better, and your Toyota dealer knows it will keep you in great shape for the road ahead.
If you notice yourself getting a little sleepy on your drive, it’s time to pull over. As a Toyota dealer, we know that it’s never safe to drive when you’re drowsy. While getting a caffeinated beverage is one way to wake up, why not try a good stretch? Stretching increases circulation, it feels good, and it can give you a few minutes of peace. If you need to sleep, stretching won’t be enough to keep you awake for hours, but it can perk you up for a short drive to a safe place to rest.
Be sure to pull over to a safe spot. The side of a highway is probably not very safe, but a parking lot or the side of a residential street would make a great place to stop and stretch your limbs. You can raise your arms above your head and work each shoulder in turn. Try bending down and touching your toes, working gently and slowly so you don’t overstretch. When you are finished, you can get back into your car and get on with your drive.
If you need a quick pick me up, trust your Toyota dealer. A short stop to stretch the stillness of the road out of your muscles can feel great and perk you up. We want you to be safe on the road, so take care of yourself and enjoy the drive!
