Are You Paying Attention to Speed Bumps in Your Hybrid Toyota?

As you drive your hybrid Toyota around Ballwin, Hazelwood, or St Louis MO, you’re probably finding quite a few speed bumps. They may be on residential roads, in parking lots, or anywhere that cars need to slow down for safety. While they can be frustrating, they are there for a reason. Not only are they there to help keep people safe, but they can do damage if you drive over them too quickly.
A speed bump is simply a lump in the road that requires a driver to slow down to pass over it. Most of them are concrete lumps that are built into the road or parking lot. A few of them have sharp points that only allow you to drive one way on them. If you drive the other direction, they will actually pop your tires! When you are driving your hybrid Toyota through St Louis, however, you’ll mostly find the ones that just require you to slow down. You should be able to feel if you are going too fast, but usually driving five to ten miles per hour should be safe.
If you drive your hybrid Toyota over a speed bump too quickly, it could actually damage your vehicle. Higher speeds can cause the undercarriage of your vehicle to press against the bump. The higher the speed, the harder it lands, which can cause significant damage. Paying attention to speed bumps may not be fun when you’re in a hurry, but it’s more important that you stay safe and keep your car in good repair than it is to try and speed past them.
Speed bumps have become a way of life on some residential streets and in many parking lots. Taking the time to drive your hybrid Toyota over them carefully, however, will remove the risk of damage to your car as you drive through St Louis. So, take your time and pay attention. Thos speed bumps need your attention!
