Have You Considered Giving Your Certified Toyota to Charity?

Even though our pre-owned certified Toyota vehicles are the top of the line in engineering and style, sooner or later all vehicles reach the end of their lifespan. When this happens, you may not know what to do with the vehicle. Sometimes you can sell it for scrap, but there are also a number of worthy charities who will accept old vehicles and even haul them away.
A charitable organization, or a charity, is a group that works to assist others without making a profit. They may serve schools, the elderly, or even animals in need, but the common idea is that they work to raise money to help support their cause. Many of them now accept donated cars, even ones that may have little or no value to you. If you plan to donate a certified Toyota, however, there are some things you should think about first.
Be sure to investigate where your certified Toyota is going. Will the car be going to a local St Louis charity or a national one, and what does the charity do with it? Sometimes the cars are sold to a broker, and the charity actually receives only a very small amount of money for it. You may want to look into the charity itself to see how much of the money they raise goes to helping, and how much goes to overhead. Hopefully your favorite charity is on the up and up, but sadly there are charities that spend almost all of their money on keeping themselves running, and not very much on their cause.
If you do donate a certified Toyota, you may be able to use it as a tax deduction. If a broker gives the car a flat value, you may not be able to deduct the vehicle, so be sure to look into IRS and Missouri regulations about claiming the gift on your taxes. Make sure to transfer the title of the vehicle to the charity and to keep good records so that you have all of the documentation you need when you file your taxes.
Donating a certified Toyota to charity can be a great way to help others without having to give up much on your end. Be sure to research the charity, as well as how the vehicles themselves are used, and to keep good records for your taxes. It always feels good to give, and this is one way you can clear out some space and still make a difference in the world.
