Why Don’t You Drive Your Hybrid Toyota on the Left Side of the Road?

Even before you learned to drive, you probably noticed that all cars in the US, including hybrid Toyotas, are driven on the right side of the road. By making sure that all drivers obey this rule, it’s easier to avoid accidents and to know where to expect other drivers on the streets of St Louis MO. Not everyone follows this rule, however. There are quite a few countries where the drivers use the left side instead of the right. So, which countries are these, and how was the decision made?
Throughout the world, about 66% of countries require driving on the left hand side of the road. With so many countries, it’s hard to list all of them here, so be sure to investigate which side of the road to drive a hybrid Toyota when you plan to visit a new country. You don’t want to find out the hard way that you are driving on the wrong side of the road, after all. Sometimes countries will be different from the country next to them, which means at border stops you’ll actually have to change which side of the road you are driving on!
No matter which country you end up driving in, you’ll definitely notice when you get into the car. If you step into a hybrid Toyota in the United States, you’ll find that the driver’s side is on the left side of the car. In countries where people drive on the left however, it is reversed. The steering wheel and pedals will be on the right side of the car, requiring the driver to switch positions. If you are ever driving a car like this, be sure to take a few minutes to get used to the new design.
While in America we have rules of the road, other countries have their own and they are not always the same. Be sure to take the time to investigate their laws and rules before you start driving there so that you can be sure that you are driving safely and legally when you are in another country.
