Roadside emergency kitIf you plan to drive your Certified Toyota through St. Charles, St Louis, and Florrisant, you’ll want to make sure that you are prepared. Besides having emergency blankets and water available, it’s important to have an emergency kit on hand in case you are in an accident. Hopefully if you ever are it will be minor, but all the same it’s best to have a kit and to be prepared.

There are many ready-made kits that you can purchase for your pre-owned certified Toyota. If you’d like, you can purchase one, but you’ll pay extra for the convenience. If you’d rather save a few dollars and build one for yourself, your St Louis Toyota dealer has some great tips on how to put an emergency kit together.

The first thing you’ll want is a container to hold your supplies. You don’t want to have to hunt through your trunk in an emergency, after all. So, find a bag or some sort of container that will hold all of the items that you can zip up or close. The kit may roll around the trunk of your certified Toyota, and you want to make sure that nothing falls out of it.

Now that you have a container, it’s time to think about supplies. You’ll want to make sure you have a disposable camera in the kit in case you need immediate pictures of a scene. You should also have flashlights or glow sticks available, as well as a pocket knife and some basic tools. You want to make sure you can change a tire, cut rope, or do anything else you need to on he side of the road. Having a first aid kit available inside the kit also a very good idea.

Finally, be sure that you have reflective triangles or flares to put in the road. If you can’t move your car, or even while you are moving it, you need a way to warn other drivers that your certified Toyota is in the road. The flares or reflective triangles let other drivers know to slow down and pay attention.

Creating an emergency accident kit isn’t very hard once you know what to put in it. Taking the time to have one ready, however, can save you a lot of hassle if you are ever unfortunate enough to be in an accident.
