Does Your Hybrid Toyota Have Bendable Side Mirrors?

It happens to the best of us—no matter how careful you are while driving your hybrid Toyota, sooner or later you will probably bump the side mirrors on the edge of your garage. Even if you manage to avoid that, another car could drive too close to yours and nick the edge of the mirror. With old-fashioned mirrors, you could have a real problem. The metal could bend or the entire mirror apparatus could jut break right off. There have been some changes to the hybrid Toyota, however. Now, we have bendable side mirrors.
A bendable side mirror is a mirror that can, as the name implies, bend. It’s not the mirror doing the bending, however. The metal and plastic that hold up the mirror also hold it at a specific angle so that you can use it to see other drivers on the road. If this structure is compromised, you are not as safe to drive your hybrid Toyota on the road. Because of this, hinges have been built into the side mirrors of most modern vehicles. When the mirror is tapped with some real pressure or you bump the garage door, the metal doesn’t buckle. The plastic probably won’t break, either Instead the hinges allow the entire structure to bend towards the car, keeping the mirror safe.
Now, once the side mirror on your hybrid Toyota has been bent, you’ll need to manually move it back into place. It is a safety feature, but it doesn’t spring back on its own. All you have to do, however, is give it a strong push, and it will immediately click back into place. Just make sure that the reflective surface is in the right place the next time you drive, and you are good to go.
There have been a variety of improvements to vehicles over the years, and the bendable side mirror on your hybrid Toyota is one of them. While it’s still best to avoid bumping other vehicles or structures, at least now you have a bit of wiggle room.
