How to Keep Cats (and their prints) Off of Your Toyota

Whether you are a cat or dog lover, or you have no affinity at all to any pets, it is very likely that it annoys most people when they get into your newly washed Toyota cars purchased from Spirit Toyota,  in the morning, only to see fresh kitty prints all over the hood and then tracked across the not so clean anymore-windshield. Not to mention scratches on a vinyl roof or paint.

It’s not really an option to train a cat to stay off of your car and if parking in a garage is not an option, you may be at your wits end!  Here are some great tips on how to keep yours (and the neighbors cat) off of your newly washed vehicle;

The first thing to try is cayenne pepper, at any local St. Louis grocery,  sprinkle some around the car (you don’t even need to put it on the car itself), it has a reputation for keeping cats away. After a few days, hopefully, the cats will leave and not come back. If not, try putting the cayenne pepper on the car itself, or consider another possible solution.

Next try regular mothballs and spread them out all around your car, including the car’s roof. You can also try putting mothballs in a pillowcase or another type of breathable bag, and hang it on the car’s antenna. Cats don’t like the strong scent and it should keep them away.

Another option is to purchase an ultrasound alarm or CatStop product that is controlled by a motion detector. The ultrasound will be unpleasant to the Cat’s ears and it will usually scare him off. You can pick one up for around $30.

 The last item commonly used to keep your feline friends (or foes) away from your clean car is a ScatMat which uses static to startle the Cat and deter him from staying in close proximity to your vehicle.
