dYour local St. Louis Spirit Toyota Dealer in Hazelwood would like to announce to its customers that Toyota recently issued a recall notice for its 2004-2005 model Toyota Tundras equipped with dual exhaust because one of the exhaust pipes was found to rub against the brake line. Toyota states that this may “possibly cause brake fluid leakage and raise the risk of a crash”. An actual vehicle collision would depend on many factors such as your vehicle speed, or if you are driving on steep hills, etc.

There is also a question about a possible design flaw in the Tundra causes front rotors to warp very quickly, causing the truck to shudder during braking. Toyota has issued a technical service bulletin regarding braking issues on the Tundra.

Because of the fundamental problem with the rear brakes, rotors that are repaired are completely could possibly warp again within 3,000 miles. Unless you check the internet every month or two, you are not likely to notice the announcement of faulty calipers, backing plates, or bearings until it is too late, so it is important to heed the warning and have your Tundra checked out even if there are no noticeable signs yet. If you do feel a vibration, it’s important to get service as soon as possible because damage could occur to other vehicle components as a result of the constant shaking.

Your local Jim Lynch Sprit Toyota service center will be very open about the problems with your Toyota Tundra;  if you are having an issue with your brakes shuddering it is advisable to have you Tundra checked out before inclement weather arrives. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear beyond a certain mileage but when there is a recall the customer is entitled to get the repairs done at no out of pocket costs.
